The biggest takeaway from when you miss something band-related is communication. New students to our band will quickly learn that you will not want to miss a rehearsal or performance for any reason. There is a large amount of material learned at each rehearsal, and since we only rehearse twice per week, missing one rehearsal will set you back. Students who miss rehearsals risk losing their spot in a portion of a show due to the complexity of our activity. In addition, performances are such an enjoyable and important part of our craft that it is essential to be in attendance. Please over communicate every absence as soon as you know of a conflict. Students should communicate with leadership in their section, and to Mr. Cable via email/schoology.
Illness Everyone gets sick, and that is something that we understand. Please notify Mr. Cable ASAP in regards to missing a rehearsal/performance day.
Injury We are very lucky to have a fantastic athletic trainer, Brian “Troll” Baines. Troll is happy to help with any band-related injury that occurs. It is always in your best interest to see Troll right away so we can get you back on the field as soon as possible.
Other Absences Vacations, weddings, and other special family events that are planned long before marching band rehearsals happen, which is also understood. Mr. Cable must be made aware immediately of a conflict in regards to a rehearsal/performance.
