ABOUT THE BANDS
CAMPUS BAND
Campus Band is comprised of students in 9th grade. After one year of campus band, students can audition for symphonic band/jazz ensemble, or can simply "move up" to concert band. Performances include winter and spring concerts. Participating in festival varies year to year, pending instrumentation. |
CONCERT BAND
Open to all students in grades 9-12. Performances include winter concert, band festival (pending instrumentation), and the spring concert. Literature is more advanced, and many students participate in Solo & Ensemble. |
SYMPHONIC BAND
Open to all students in grades 9-12. Performances include winter concert, district & state band festival, and the spring concert. Private lessons are strongly encouraged before admittance into this ensemble. This is an advanced-placement style class performing collegiate-level music with a majority of students participating in Solo & Ensemble and advancing to the state level. Chamber ensembles are organized through Symphonic Band. |
JAZZ ENSEMBLE
Students will perform in the community when opportunities present itself, including winter/spring concerts, state jazz festival, dinner dance, CMU jazz festival, and Cliff Bells. Class size is limited due to instrumentation. Auditions for the Jazz Ensemble is a separate process held in March. |
